Senior Advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal has announced a contribution of ₹1 crore towards a legal aid fund established by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to support student protesters facing FIRs and criminal proceedings following recent demonstrations linked to the examination paper leak controversy.
The announcement was made during a press conference in New Delhi, where Sibal expressed concern over reports that students and protesters could continue to face legal action despite assurances regarding the handling of protest-related cases. He emphasized the importance of ensuring access to legal representation for individuals who may become entangled in criminal proceedings arising from their participation in peaceful demonstrations.
According to CJP representatives, the legal aid initiative aims to provide assistance to students across multiple states who may be subjected to police investigations, arrests, or prosecution.
