ICC India, in consultation with the ICC International Court of Arbitration and its Secretariat, has appointed Sameer Jain as Chair and Aanchal Basur as Vice Chair of the ICC India Arbitration Group (IAG), with effect from September 1, 2026.

Sameer Jain is the Managing Partner of PSL Advocates & Solicitors, while Aanchal Basur is a Partner at AB Law. Both are members of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR and have previously represented India through various ICC arbitration initiatives.

Jain succeeds Shashank Garg, under whose leadership the ICC India Arbitration Group expanded its engagement with practitioners, in-house counsel, students, and arbitration stakeholders across the country. Prior to his appointment, Jain served as a member of the IAG’s core committee, while Basur served as its Secretary.

Welcoming the appointments, Claudia Salomon, President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, stated that both leaders bring significant experience, credibility, and a longstanding association with ICC. She expressed confidence that their leadership would further strengthen the Group’s contribution to engagement, knowledge-sharing, and thought leadership in arbitration.

Jain is widely recognized for his expertise in commercial disputes, international arbitration, and cross-border matters, with over 18 years of experience representing Indian and international clients, including state-owned entities. Speaking on his appointment, he emphasized his commitment to expanding stakeholder dialogue and promoting awareness of ICC arbitration and ADR services.

Basur’s practice focuses on international arbitration involving sectors such as energy, healthcare, hospitality, and manufacturing. She regularly acts in arbitration proceedings seated both in India and internationally. Basur noted that ICC continues to serve as an important forum for practitioners, academics, and young professionals, and expressed her intention to foster greater collaboration within India’s arbitration community.

The ICC India Arbitration Group plays a crucial role in promoting ICC Dispute Resolution Services in India through conferences, workshops, training programs, policy discussions, and stakeholder engagement. The new leadership is expected to further advance the growth and institutionalization of arbitration and ADR mechanisms in India.
