The KIIT Legal Services Clinic (KLSC), functioning under KIIT School of Law, KIIT Deemed-to-be University, Bhubaneswar, has announced registrations for the inaugural KIIT Inter-University Client Counselling Competition (KIUCCC) 2026.
The competition is designed to bridge the gap between classroom legal education and professional legal practice through simulated client-counsel interactions. Participants will be assessed on essential lawyering skills such as client interviewing, active listening, communication, legal analysis, ethical decision-making, and problem-solving.
The event will be conducted in a hybrid format, with the online preliminary rounds scheduled for 19 September 2026 and the offline rounds to be held on 27 September 2026.
Students enrolled in Bar Council of India-recognized 3-year and 5-year LL.B. programmes are eligible to participate. Each team will consist of two student counsels, while the client role will be provided by the organizing committee. Institutions may send a maximum of two teams, and participation is limited to 32 teams on a first-come, first-served basis.
The problem propositions will cover diverse legal subjects, including Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Family Law, Consumer Protection Law, Law of Contracts, Sale of Goods Act, Law of Torts, Insurance Law, Information Technology Act, Negotiable Instruments Act, Motor Vehicles Act, and Dowry Prohibition Law.
The registration fee has been fixed at ₹2,000 per team for the online rounds. Teams qualifying for the offline rounds will be required to pay an additional ₹2,500.
The competition offers attractive prizes, including ₹25,000 for the winning team, ₹15,000 for the runners-up, and special awards for Best Counsel and Best Client carrying cash prizes of ₹10,000 each along with trophies and certificates.
Registrations will remain open until 15 September 2026. Through the theme “Law Begins With Listening,” the organizers seek to encourage law students to develop client-centred advocacy and counselling skills that are critical to modern legal practice.
