The Calcutta High Court has ordered the immediate tracing and apprehension of Bengal and Delhi Capitals cricketer Abishek Porel in connection with a criminal case involving allegations of rape, criminal intimidation, and related offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The case arises from a complaint filed by a medical student who alleged that the cricketer established a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage and subsequently refused to fulfil that commitment. The complainant has further alleged intimidation, harassment, and misuse of private photographs.
Hearing the matter, the Calcutta High Court expressed concern over the progress of the investigation and directed the police authorities to immediately locate and apprehend the accused. The Court also ordered the seizure of electronic devices belonging to the accused persons, including mobile phones and digital storage devices, to prevent any possible circulation of private images and to preserve electronic evidence relevant to the investigation.
